Project Summary: Metwide Communications delivered a comprehensive network infrastructure upgrade for the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA). This included Wi-Fi improvements, backbone switch upgrades, and a network access control solution to enhance security and connectivity across the facility. The scope of work addressed both indoor and outdoor areas, providing the club with seamless wireless coverage, secure device management, and enhanced network performance.
Scope of Works
Wi-Fi Infrastructure Upgrade
Installed Aruba AP-635 Campus Access Points (APs) to provide high-speed Wi-Fi coverage throughout the club's indoor spaces, including member areas and operational offices.
Configured and optimised the access points through Aruba Central, allowing for centralised management and real-time monitoring of the wireless network.
Provided secure guest Wi-Fi access via a splash page, enhancing the experience for members and visitors while maintaining network security.
Backbone Network Switch Upgrade
Installed and configured Aruba 6200F Switches to handle high network traffic between the clubhouse and administrative buildings. These switches provided robust data transfer capabilities, improving overall network speed and reliability.
Established 10G SFP+ connections between key network points using Aruba SFP+ modules, ensuring high-bandwidth data transmission and optimised network performance.
Certified and tested Cat6A cabling runs to support the upgraded infrastructure, ensuring efficient connectivity for the Wi-Fi system and core network devices.
Network Access Control (NAC) Solution
Deployed Aruba ClearPass Network Access Control (NAC) hardware and software to manage and secure up to 100 network devices. This system ensures that only authorised devices can access the network, providing a higher level of security for sensitive operations.
Configured NAC policies to manage device access based on user roles, network segmentation, and security protocols, protecting the club's internal systems from unauthorised access.
Integrated the NAC solution with existing network devices and systems to create a streamlined, secure network management platform.
Testing, Commissioning, and Documentation
Conducted thorough testing and commissioning of all systems, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to verify the functionality of the equipment in both controlled and live environments.
Delivered as-built documentation, including network diagrams, equipment specifications, and commissioning reports, ensuring that CYCA staff had full visibility of the installation.
Provided training sessions for CYCA staff on the operation and management of the network access control system and Wi-Fi infrastructure, ensuring smooth handover and ongoing management capabilities.
